With "Sacred Sorceress", Alziend Component surveys the subterranean landscapes of an ancient, unexplored territory. The loss of landmarks becomes more pronounced as the winding paths draw us into the depths. Down here, the echo of the world above is still present; archaic litanies link us to it. The muffled notes seem at once distant and strangely familiar, as do the obscure resonances of the humming coming from the cavities below. The sound score seems to use contemporary technologies, although here it is embodied in a primitive form that suggests it originated centuries before our era. Access continues below.

Deep in the rock, electrical clusters of intertwined cables run along the wall; human artefacts and age-old mineral become one. In places, mechanical fragments embrace the cold, damp monolith of craggy nooks and crannies. The ghostly, discreet melodies of the voices respond to the throbbing, saturated reverberations of the strings. Instruments and other sound materials come to life in a shapeless, sinuous arrangement. Machinery regurgitates its black fumes, while bells toll the knell amid the feedback. Industrial incursions are discreet, while textures alternate between ambient noise and organic harmonies, playing on accidents and improvisation. Between oscillations, jolts and calms, the ritual frenzy maintains its fire. On the last breath, "Sacred Sorceress" appears like an ancient, forgotten creation, a form of archive, an analog emanation crystallized on magnetic tape, held there as a souvenir of a distant world.


Au travers de « Sacred Sorceress », Alziend Component arpente les paysages souterrains d’un territoire ancien et inexploré. La perte de repères s'accentue à mesure que les chemins sinueux nous tirent dans les profondeurs. Ici-bas, l’écho du monde d’en-haut se fait encore présent ; les litanies archaïques nous y relient. Les notes feutrées nous apparaissent à la fois lointaines et étrangement familières, tout comme les résonnances obscures des vrombissements parvenant des cavités inférieures. La partition sonore paraît user de technologies contemporaines, bien qu'elle s'incarne ici dans une forme primitive qui donne à croire qu’elle proviendrait de plusieurs siècles avant notre ère. Les accès se poursuivent en contrebas. Au creux de la roche, des amas électriques de câbles entrelacés longent la paroi ; artefacts humains et minéral séculaire font corps. Des fragments mécaniques embrassent par endroit le monolithe froid et humide de recoins escarpés. Les mélodies fantomatiques et discrètes des voix répondent aux réverbérations lancinantes et saturées des cordes. Les instruments et autres matières sonores s’animent dans un agencement informe et sinueux. La machinerie régurgite ses fumées noires alors que les cloches sonnent le glas parmi les larsens. Les incursions industrielles se font discrètes, tandis que les textures alternent entre bruitisme ambiant et harmonies organiques, jouant sur les accidents et l'improvisation. Entre oscillations, sursauts et apaisements, la frénésie rituelle entretient son feu. Au dernier souffle rendu « Sacred Sorceress » nous apparaît alors comme une antique création oubliée, une forme d’archive, d’émanation analogique cristallisée sur bandes magnétiques, que l’on tient là, en souvenir d’un monde lointain.
